Tunisia has been a member of the International Labour Organisation since 1956. Today, the ILO provides support to the government and employers' and workers' organisations in numerous fields, such as the promotion of sustainable enterprises, including in the social and solidarity economy, strengthening public employment services, improving the employability for young people, protecting workers in the workplace, and extending social protection systems, among many others. ILO activities in the country are coordinated by the ILO Country Office for Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, and Tunisia, based in Algiers.
