In a statement delivered for the 2025 Mont Blanc Meeting on the social and solidarity economy (SSE), ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo underlines the increasing global recognition of the transformative potential of the SSE and highlights the ILO’s effort in promoting the SSE.
As the only UN specialized agency that has an explicit mandate on the SSE and the chair of the UN Inter-Agency Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE), the ILO continues to foster collaboration across the UN and multilateral systems and with its SSE partners and is fully committed to advancing decent work and social justice in and through the SSE.
