/ Offshore Wind

Huisman has an extensive product portfolio for the offshore wind market. The products range from spreaders, monopile grippers, pre-piling templates  up to large capacity cranes. New technology or custom made products can be developed by our innovative engineering department on request.

Wind Turbine Maintenance

Wind Turbine Maintenance

Huisman's Foldable Offshore Crane is designed specifically for Operations & Maintenance (O&M)works on offshore wind turbines. It allows operators to reach nacelles at a height of over 150m above the WTGs transition piece. The major advantage of this crane is that due to its foldable boom, the crane can easily be integrated in small - and cost efficient - jack-up vessels. Therefore reducing cost for offshore maintenance. In addition, the geometry of the boom allows for a very low construction weight.

Travelling Load Stabilising System

Travelling Load Stabilising System

Controlling the movements of the relatively light blades of a turbine when suspended from a crane, has proven to be an installation challenge due to wind load. To mitigate operational downtime and increase the integrity of the delicate wind turbine components, Huisman and Siemens Gamesa developed the Travelling Load Stabilising System, for universal application in heavy lifting cranes.

Wind Turbine Installation Cranes

Wind Turbine Installation Cranes

Building on the successful operation of the existing Huisman cranes for the installation of Offshore Wind Turbines, Huisman has introduced a range of cranes tailored to Wind Turbine Installation. These cranes are a result of many years of design and operational experience and based on the company’s drive to design and deliver new solutions that add value to the market’s existing technologies.

Motion Compensated Pile Grippers

Motion Compensated Pile Grippers

Floating vessels will have a role to play in the turbine installation of the future, being free from depth limitations and able to offer the increased crane capacity required for larger, heavier monopiles. The Motion Compensated Pile Gripper prevents the monopile from uncontrolled oscillation during lowering and piling and keeps it vertical by compensating the vessel motions in the horizontal plane, ensuring turbine installation that is both safe and accurate.

Monopile Grippers

Monopile Grippers

The Huisman Monopile Gripper has been designed to be light and compact while maintaining a high level of stiffness. Extensive dynamic analysis has shown that the stiffness of the gripper is one of the most important design characteristics for controlling and mitigating unwanted monopile oscillations. High stiffness results in less deflection and more control over the monopile, extending the operating window.

Convertible Pre-Piling Template

Convertible Pre-Piling Template

With offshore wind farms being built in ever deeper waters, there is a growing demand for jacket foundations to support the increasingly larger Wind Turbine Generators. These jacket foundations come in different designs to accommodate the varying conditions and parameters of the wind farm locations. Therefore, pre-piling templates have to meet the specific dimensions and geometry that each offshore wind farm demands. Investing in tailored pre-piling templates for single-use is very cost-inefficient. Huisman introduces the Convertible Pre-Piling Template, an economic and reliable solution for accurate piling.

Motion Compensated Platform

Motion Compensated Platform

The construction of offshore windfarms in the US is regulated by the Jones Act. The transport of wind turbine components from a US port to the field using an international installation vessel requires the use of a US feeder vessel. Although this is a Jones Act-compliant solution for this kind of logistical challenge, it does require that components need to be lifted from a moving vessel. Huisman introduces the Motion Compensated Platform to ensure that components can be transferred quickly and safely from a feeder vessel.

Sheerleg Cranes

Besides our standard portfolio, we envisage to develop and build mission equipment for our client's special needs. An example is the Rambiz, originally built for a bridge construction project, is now frequently used for the installation of gravity based structures and complete wind turbines in a single lift. A sequal with 4,000mt lifting capacity is currently on order.

Various Cranes

The worldwide ambitions for offshore wind energy involve complex logistics operations in the installation phase. Marshalling ports and large quaysides with weight-carrying capacity are critical to the assembly, storage and deployment of large wind turbines. This requires increasing lifting height and capacity. Huisman offers flexible solutions for any work site or environment.
