Mapping and strengthening community-based care resources for persons with disabilities and long-term support needs in Georgia

The programme will build on the numerous knowledge products, assessments and technical documents aimed at supporting the development of policies, services and supports for persons with disability and older persons with care needs and will work to pull all these strands of knowledge and sources of information into a unitary framework for promoting disability inclusion, independent living and wellbeing for all persons with care needs, irrespective of age.

Considering the critical role that care services play in the lives of persons with disabilities and the elderly, the ILO will focus on exploring the care sector, specifically by mapping all available social services provided to these groups by the government.

In addition, the project aims to analyse the current situation regarding the working conditions of care workers involved in 24-hour community services for persons with disabilities and the elderly. The situational analysis will serve as a solid foundation for developing recommendations on the most relevant and optimal working conditions for care workers.

The final beneficiaries of the project will include the care workers providing community-based services, persons with disabilities and the elderly who benefit from social services, and policymakers.
