The importance of decent work for the care economy

The 2024 International Labour Conference adopted an historic Resolution on decent work and the care economy, highlighting the sector’s vital role in society and the importance of decent working conditions for care workers.
Efforts are underway to convert this ILC decision into concrete action, such as designing and implementing comprehensive protection and care leave policies; education, training and skills recognition; access to labour protection and universal social protection; representation and consultation with care workers and their organizations.
