ILO's new Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific takes office
Kaori Nakamura-Osaka serves as Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific at the International Labour Organization’s Regional Office in Bangkok, Thailand.

BANGKOK (ILO News) – Kaori Nakamura-Osaka took up office as the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific on 1 January 2025.
A Japanese national, Ms Nakamura has extensive experience in employment, labour, youth and international policy, previously serving as Deputy Assistant Minister and Director for International Affairs at Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW). Past posts also include Director for International Youth Exchange at Japan’s Cabinet Office; Vice Governor of Kagoshima Prefecture; and First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan in the United States.
Ms Nakamura holds an M.A. in Public Administration from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Tokyo.
She is based at the ILO’s Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok, Thailand.
