Dialogue on Social Protection in Angola
The dialogue will build on the results of the "World Protection Report 2024-26.
With funding from the European Union, the International Labour Organization (ILO) will hold the Round Table on the theme: "Social Protection: Pathways to Coverage in Angola", to be held on Tuesday, 29 October, at 8:30 am, at the Epic Sana Hotel, in Luanda.
The event will bring together social actors, including representatives of government institutions responsible for the implementation of social protection policies in the country, trade union organizations, academics, civil society organizations, United Nations agencies, embassies and international cooperation organizations, journalists and opinion makers, in an environment of joint reflection in search of proposals for ways to universalize social protection in Angola.
The dialogue will build on the results of the "World Protection Report 2024-26: Universal Social Protection for Climate Action and a Just Transition", recently launched by the ILO.
The panel will be made up of representatives of the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), Ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women (MASFAMU), and FAS – Institute of Local Development, also including the Director of the Expansão Newspaper, João Armando, the Coordinator of the Political and Social Observatory of Angola (OPSA), Sérgio Calundungo, and Dr. Conceição da Silva, member of the Observatory of the Informal Economy at the Lusíada University.
The activity is part of the Project "Expansion of Social Security to Support the Formalization of the Angolan Economy (ESSAFE Angola)", funded by the European Union, implemented by the ILO in Angola.
