Cameroon has been a member of the International Labour Organization since 1960. Today, Cameroon receives technical and financial support to promote the Decent Work agenda in the country through the development and implementation of development cooperation programmes in Central Africa, in a manner consistent with national development policies, programmes and plans, as well as United Nations framework plans.

ILO activities in Cameroon are coordinated by the Decent Work Technical Support Team and ILO Country Office based in Yaounde (Cameroon) and covering Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Sao Tome and Principe.
